The focus of this event is actually writing

YES - we write DAY and NIGHT, the writing room is open until 10 pm on both Friday and Saturday nights. This doesn't mean we write every moment, we just get to write as much as our hearts desire. This can be an all-out race to get the words on the page - or a leisurely stroll.  It's up to you.

Finding an Agent? Writing a Query Letter?  Working with an Editor?

Congratulations!  You finished your first/second/third draft/nth, and you’re ready for someone to see your masterpiece. Now, what do you do? Whether it is finding an agent, working with an editor/or writing a query letter, we will walk you through some time-tested strategies and missteps to avoid, getting you started on the next step in your publishing journey! There will be a 20-30 minute introduction, and then the rest of the time will be spent working on a query letter.  The goal is to get you comfortable with the structure and started on your very own query letter! We might have time for some group feedback.

Emotion & Intimacy:  The steamy side of vulnerability

Depending on your genre expectations or your desire to subvert them the way ACOTAR did, you yearn for your writing to subtly titillate and fascinate, evoke and imbue feeling; however, you might be struggling with writing sensual passages full of passion and sensory delights or emotional intimacy that resonate deeply with readers experiencing a similar emotion.  This workshop is all about dropping into that uncomfortable emotional space where we can get steamy and vulnerable in our writing!

POV Writing Workshop: Mastering Perspective in Storytelling

Point of View, or POV. Whether you’re writing fiction, memoir, or narrative nonfiction, the perspective from which your story is told can make or break your reader’s experience.  This section is all about exploring different points of view. Head-hopping, limited or omniscient narrator, 1st,2nd, or 3rd person.

Self-Care for Writers

Life is busy. Then add writing to your plate, and you can find yourself overbooked and burned out, while little writing gets done. Prioritizing physical well-being, mental health, and emotional balance is essential for maintaining creativity and productivity. In this workshop, we’ll cover ways to incorporate self-care into your routine to enable good health and balance priorities so you can accomplish your writing goals.

Outlining for Pantsers: Finding Structure Without Killing the Magic

You identify as a pantser, enjoying organic writing without detailed planning. However, you feel you spend too much time editing. This workshop offers lightweight outlining strategies that complement your creative instincts, providing direction to keep you moving forward while still allowing for surprises.

Optional Break-Out Sections For Saturday

9:00 Hand stretching – (10-minute) - Writing Room

Improve blood flow to your hands, warming the muscles and ligaments. Increase the oxygen and nutrients circulating through the joint's membranes, triggering the process of removing cell debris from joints. Improve flexibility. Improve range of motion. This helps prevent carpal tunnel, tendinitis, and fatigue. This is a short 10-minute stretch to start the day of writing.
